We are happy to announce a couple of new options based on feedback from gigging players. While it is nice to be able to use rack tuners, looking for your rack tuner off stage or somewhere behind you might not always be the best option. You may prefer to have your tuner right up front with you so you can keep your attention focused on your fans! To that end, we are announcing the availability of an auxiliary 9V DC power jack on our 12-Button Footswitch. It is not intended to provide enough power for a bunch of pedals, but it does provide enough power for most tuners. It will also power most wah pedals, along with your tuner. Since tuners and wah pedals tend to be near the beginning of your chain, that makes this a no-brainer add-on to our footswitch. In addition to the power jack, we also offer a “Buddy Board”, a very small pedal board that bolts onto either side of our footswitch. It gives you enough room for your tuner and a wah, or maybe a volume pedal.
It’s nice to get your tuner pedal up front where you can easily see it. But while we were experimenting, we came across another “elegant solution”, sometimes also called a “hack”, that we liked so well that we’re going to embarrass ourselves a little bit and share it. If you’ve seen our rack configs online or at a show, you’ve no doubt noticed we like the Korg Pitchblack Pro rack tuner. It is an accurate tuner that is very easy to see and use, and it is affordable. Well, it turns out that if you have an ABY or loop routing pedal, you can easily mount this great rack tuner to our footswitch. You need the routing pedal because this rack tuner has no footswitching capabilities. With a couple dollars’ worth of hardware, a custom power cable, a routing pedal, and a Buddy Board, you can have a killer tuner mounted on your footswitch. Check out the pictures – doesn’t it look like it was meant to be? Yeah, we know. It’s a little like when your significant other maybe isn’t the greatest looking, sometimes burps and dresses a bit out of style, but is a great conversationalist, a gourmet cook, and a good dancer...
So check out the Buddy Board and our “significant other” Pitchblack Pro tuner option for the 12-Button Footswitch. You can also find them from the Search box at www.gerlttechnologies.com or from the menus, Products – Footswitches – 12 Button Footswitch.
We’re going to be heads down on some builds going into the holidays, so we’re going to be quiet for a while. We’ll be watching email and FB over the holidays, so don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be on reduced hours the second half of December, so our responses may be delayed. We’ll be back 110% in January, and should have some more new product and event announcements for you sometime around then. As always, stay tuned for more updates as we continue to add more custom rack effects to our product line in the New Year!
Happy and Safe Holidays to You and Yours!!!
