Volume

It's never too loud, but if it is...

 

 

The GT Volume module is a simple foot-operated volume control.  It is similar to many other foot-operated volume control pedals, with one significant difference.  Your audio signal does not pass through the rocker control on the floor.  The rocker is a remote control that allows your signal to stay in the rack module instead of going to and from the rocker switch with long cable runs.

 

Description

The GT Volume module is a simple volume pedal, with a small twist.  Your sound doesn't go to the rocker pedal.  The rocker pedal is a remote control so that your sound stays in the rack without going through long cable runs.    

There is a buffer at the beginning of the circuit.

There is a single control for Gain.  Depending on whatever else you may be doing with your signal chain, it is possible to cause some light clipping distortion.  The Gain control allows you to prevent that.  If you notice some unexpected clipping, just adjust the Gain control to make it go away.  Normally this would not need adjustment and would likely be an internal trimmer.  We made it external instead to provide fine control.  Simply set it to where the volume goes to zero when the toe is up and is not clipping when the toe is down.

The switching for the Volume module is different from our other modules.  There is no connection on the back panel of the module for a switching cable and there is no switching override switch.  It does not use a connection to your Rack Switch module or a button on your 12-Button or 3-Button footswitch.  The module is activated by a footswitch on the rocker pedal when you put the toe of the pedal full down.  That toggles the module on/off, or more accurately, bypasses or engages the module.  Since you must press the footswitch down with the toe of the rocker pedal, the toe down position is full volume so that you get full volume when you turn the module on or off.  The toe full up is no volume - silence.  The module does not boost the volume, only cuts it.  You can leave it on all the time in the down position for full volume, then use the rocker to lower and restore the volume.

The rocker foot pedal is the same as the one used by the Wah Baby module, other than the badge on the outside, so they are interchangeable.  The rocker pedal is connected to the rack module by a normal 1/4" stereo (TRS) cable, which is not included.  The module price includes the module and the rocker pedal.
