The Crema Boost is a germanium boost rack effect that compares to the Keeley Java Boost, Dallas Rangemaster, and the numerous Dallas Rangemaster variants.

 

Description

When you make espresso, "crema" is the smooth, tan foam that floats on top and plays a big role in defining the taste of your espresso.  The Crema Boost compares to the Keeley Java Boost, which in turn compares to a Dallas Rangemaster (see Trail Boss) with a couple of nice options.  As compared to the Trail Boss, the Crema Boost adds a Tone control, and a range switch.  The range switch has three settings which allow it to be a Treble Boost, Mids Boost, or Full Range Boost.  Like the Trail Boss, as you crank it up, you get more volume and more gain.  It helps fill out your tone and can be used to push a tube amp into overdrive.

  • Crema Boost - Compares to the Dallas Rangemaster, Analogman Beano Boost, Keeley Java Boost, and many other variants of the germanium Rangemaster circuit.

Options

  • Custom Transistor - We'll use an OC44 or CV7003 by default.  If you prefer another germanium or PNP silicon transistor, let us know.  We have a variety of transistors in stock.
  • Components - We use metal film resistors and a selection of capacitors that provide good tone and low noise.  Carbon comp resistors sound good in this circuit, providing a little bit of "good noise" or "vintage mojo", whichever name you prefer.
